Creating a New Beginning Through Scent, Ritual, and Reflection

Stepping into a new year reminds us of all the fresh fragrances we love—the new-car smell, leather shoes you waited months to buy, warm bread from the oven, clean linens, and a freshly brewed pot of coffee. The right scent awakens the senses, stirring bliss, nostalgia, or quiet joy. Fragrance, after all, is one of life’s most effortless mood enhancers.

This year, we’re choosing joy—intentionally. No matter what arrives, we’re pausing, feeling, reflecting, pivoting, and moving forward. We weren’t promised perfect lives, but we were promised lives worth living. Lives filled with things to hear, see, taste, touch—and, of course, smell.

As we look ahead, we’re sharing three simple, feel-good goals—easy to adopt and as satisfying as they are fragrant. Take what resonates and leave the rest.

1. Layer Your Fragrances

Is it really a signature scent if everyone else is wearing it? In a viral world where popularity drives purchases, individuality can feel elusive. Enter fragrance layering—a thoughtful, stylish way to make your scent truly your own.

Like [stylishly] layering clothes for cooler weather, fragrance layering blends practicality with taste. Done well, it can increase longevity, enhance sillage (the trail a perfume leaves behind), invite compliments, and boost your mood—especially when mood-enhancing notes, like the ones found in Read Fragrances, are involved.

Here’s where to start:

  • Shower with a perfumed bath gel.

  • After showering, mix an emollient-rich body moisturizer or oil with a perfumed body lotion. Oils help seal in scent and create a base for your perfume to cling to.

  • Use a hair perfume, like Kitsch’s Hair Perfume.

  • Apply your heavier or stronger fragrance first (think woody, oud, or spicy), then layer fresher or lighter scents (floral, fruity, or gourmand) on top.

  • Always apply fragrance to pulse points: neck, wrists, inner elbows, behind the knees, groin, and even the tops of the feet.

  • Bonus: Use perfumed laundry products. We hear Le Luxe from @melissaswardrobe is having a moment.

2. Wear What Works for You

There’s been a lot of noise online lately—shaming people for wearing scents that aren’t “trendy” or choosing perfumes that don’t come with a $450 price tag. It’s just that: noise.

A signature scent is simply what works with your body chemistry. It boosts your confidence, lifts your mood, and fits every version of you. No one needs to know what you layered—or what it cost. All they need to know is that you’ve arrived. And that’s something they’ll smile about from several feet away.

3. Try Something New

In the spirit of fresh beginnings, try something unfamiliar—yes, even a blind buy. We’re launching three floral eau de parfums in Spring 2026, and no, they don’t smell like your grandmother’s florals (with love).

Each fragrance in our first chapter, New Bloom, is an invitation to adventure:

  • Wild Mimosa blends coconut, citrus, tuberose, and vanilla—fresh like a soft breeze on a warm tropical day.

  • Radiant Rose is gentler and sweeter, with quince, rose, and sandalwood creating a profile that’s inviting, spicy, and softly grounding.

  • Bold Poppy is our most grounded yet provocative scent, layered with lotus, poppy, magnolia, sandalwood, and musk—perfect for evenings and quiet confidence.

Join us as we write a new story in 2026. New Bloom promises satisfaction, joy, relaxation—and plenty of whimsy along the way.
